Baseline on entry assessment booklet EYFS
This booklet is designed for Reception Teachers to obtain an ‘on entry’ or ‘baseline’ assessment of their new children. This booklet has key statements for each area of development designed to provide the teacher with a best fit judgement of where the child is working within the age bands provided by Development Matters. It does not include statements for every aspect of each area as it is designed to give a best fit judgement for your initial on entry assessment. Instructions on how to use this document is also included. Pages could be printed and put into an assessment folder or printed and put into a binded booklet. An easy to use tracking document. I use a highlighter where by I just highlight if the child can do it and I put a little dot to show I’ve checked them but they’re not able to meet the statement. I’ve found this tracker very easy to use and has given me a good idea on children’s starting point. I can also then refer to this to immediately identify roughly my different levels of ability in the classroom and who may need some initial intervention or additional support.
